What must be ranked as one of the world's best addresses: Pittwater, complete with jetty and boatsheds, the project is the fruition of two generations working and living on the waterfront.
The site is a perfect coincidence of true north orientation and view. The living spaces and bedrooms are stacked for maximum view and solar advantage. Consequently it was of utmost importance to balance the light within the house so that the rooms did not suffer glare. pwa's solution was to insert two curved sail elements to reflect light deep into the building and define the family's living spaces.
The scale of the house is broken into a series of thin vertical masonry elements stepping down the hill and opening out to spectacular views. The living spaces of the home can be completely thrown open to the garden and water, with doors that fold out of the way. |
